Each GYNOFERON depot dragee contains 80 mg of iron (as ferrous sulfate) and 0.35 mg of folic acid as active ingredient. GYNOFERON is in the form of pink, round, biconvex dragees and is available in packages containing 30 tanks of dragee.

GYNOFERON is a drug used in the treatment of anemia (low number of red cells in the blood) in adults.

GYNOFERON has been prescribed for you during pregnancy for the prevention and treatment of anemia caused by iron and folic acid deficiency that cannot be adequately achieved with proper nutrition, or for the treatment and prevention of anemia caused by iron and folic acid deficiency:

    Hidden iron deficiency situations
    Iron deficiency anemia
Folic acid deficiencies associated with iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding periods.
3.How to use GYNOFERON?

GYNOFERON can be used in adults and children over 12 years of age.
Instructions for proper use and dose/frequency of administration

Your doctor will tell you how and at what dose you should use your medicine. Unless your doctor recommends otherwise follow these instructions.
In mild iron deficiency anemia, folic acid deficiency and latent iron deficiency: 1 depot dragee once a day (in the morning).
In severe iron deficiency anemia: 2 depot dragee per day (morning and evening before meals)
For the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency during pregnancy, it is sufficient to use 1 depot of dragee per day.
Duration of treatment:

To correct anemia and normalize iron stores, you must continue treatment long enough. In severe iron deficiency anemia, the dose can be reduced to one depot dragee per day after 3 weeks. Your doctor will inform you about how long your treatment will take with GYNOFERON. Do not stop treatment early, because in this case your anemia may not be completely cured.
Application route and method

GYNOFERON is taken orally. Take your medicine in storage dragee form, preferably before meals, on an empty stomach as a whole, with a glass of water. Do not suck, chew, or hold the depot dragee in your mouth.

2. Things to consider before using GYNOFERON
DO NOT USE GYNOFERON in the following conditions
Using GYNOFERON with food and drink

Consuming large amounts of tea, coffee and red wine prevents the absorption of iron. When dairy products, eggs and foods containing phosphate (some carbonated drinks, energy drinks, meat products, cheese, dried vegetables, pumpkin seeds, oilseeds such as sunflower seeds) are taken together with the drug, they significantly reduce the absorption of iron. Take GYNOFERON at least two hours after these foods.

Foods rich in vitamin C (for example, fresh fruits and vegetables) and fruit juices can increase iron absorption.

During treatment, some laboratory tests (glucose oxidase test used to determine glucose in the urine and a test used to reveal the cause of intestinal bleeding) may give false results. If you are going to have such a test, tell your doctor that you are using GYNOFERON.
